Sophia Hewson has worked with oil paints and aspired to be an artist
since early childhood.
At the age of 15 she travelled to Maningrida, a remote Aboriginal community in Arnhem Land where she worked packing aboriginal art works for an international tour, and curating displays. She has continued to travel extensively, backpacking through Scandinavia, the Arctic Circle, Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the South Pacific. In 2007 she completed a first class Honours Degree at The Victorian College of the Arts and on graduating was signed to Lindberg Galleries (lindbergcontemporary.com.au).
In 2009 after two years work Sophia debuted first her Solo exhibition, Solstice – City of the Godless. Now at age 25 she is working full time in her Richmond studio towards her next exhibition, which will be held this October the 8th at Lindberg Galleries in Melbourne.
